P90X - Day 16 (Plyometrics)

No training today. I am really tired. I plan on watching Smallville with my wife and kids and knocking out. Wally already told me she's ordering pizza. I will use this meal as my "reward day". Hopefully I can use some self control and not eat the whole box!!!!

Meal 5 - pizza (4 slices), pepsi Throwback

Core Value featuring Trip Lee, Cruz Cordero, Shai Linne

P90X - Day 15 (Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X)

I just finished Chest and Back and it was brutal. I pushed myself a little harder this week because I was disappointed with my performance last week. I really didn't feel any soreness after last Wednesday's workout. I did alot more reps than my first two weeks of P90X. I gotta confess that half way through my workout I switched to girly push ups. I skipped Ab Ripper but I plan to do it tomorrow night with Plyometrics.

Meal 1 - raisin bran, coffee
Meal 2 - peanuts
Meal 3 - sweet & sour chicken, rice, veggies
Meal 4 - carrots
Meal 5 - steak, carrots, potatoes, rice, cranapple juice

Daily Food Log

I found this dope site while looking for an Excel spread sheet for my monthly budget. I came across a template for a daily food log. I am gonna start using this. I can print both sides and carry it in my back pocket so I can keep track of all my meals. Check it out...

P90X - Day 10 (Shoulders & Arms, Ab Ripper X)

I finished Chest and Back late last night. It wasn't as hard as the first time. I managed to do more reps than last week which was really cool. I still struggled with the pull ups but I guess that will come with time. Ab Ripper was a beast!!! I hate it but I love it. I know that it will all pay off in the end. I have alot of catching up to do this weekend....

Plyometrics seemed a lot more difficult this time. Maybe it was because I worked out so late. I didn't get started until about midnight. By that time everyone in my house was asleep. My workout partner (bka my wife) knocked out after we watched 7 Pounds. I don't blame her though. She had a long day at The Getty w/ my 6 year old son, Santiago. I can only imagine how draining it was to chase around 30 first graders in a museum.

After my workout my abs really hurt from last nights Ab Ripper. I can barely sit up because of the pain in my stomach. My quads are also burning up. By the time the dvd was over my shirt was soaken wet. Plyometrics really lives up to being The Mother of All Workouts.

Meal 1 - turkey omelet
Meal 2 - string cheese
Meal 3 - turkey and swiss sandwich
Meal 4 - banana, peanuts
Meal 5 - turkey burger
Meal 6 - protein shake

P90X - Day 9 (Plyometrics)

I fell asleep early last night so I didn't get a chance to start on Chest & Back. I see a common factor here. I'm falling behind of my workouts because I am getting too tired to workout at night. I need to rearrange my schedule so that I am not playing catch up. I may have to wake up early and just do them in the morning. I have to do both vidz tonight. I am not looking forward to this.

Meal 1 - oatmeal, coffee
Meal 2 - apple
Meal 3 - turkey sandwich w/ swiss
Meal 4 - carrots
Meal 5 - lasagna wraps (ground turkey)
Meal 6 - protein shake

P90X - Day 8 (Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X)

I still haven't lost any weight. It really was never my goal to lose but to gain lean muscle mass. Still I am saddened. I know it's because I have compromised in my diet and have not done any cardio. So I decided to run 5.5 miles today. I felt great after my run. I am really looking forward to my workout tonight.

Meal 1 - 2 scrambled eggs, 1 slice of toast, coffee
Meal 2 - protein shake
Meal 3 - tuna sandwich, side salad, Formula 50
Meal 4 - string cheese
Meal 5 - chicken Caesar wrap

Day 7 - P90X (X Stretch)

I didn't finish Kenpo X last night. Truthfully I didn't feel like doing it tonight either. I was laying on my couch and it was about 187 degrees in my living room. I have been trying to watch Michael Clayton which I got from the library but for some reason I keep falling asleep. I was feeling really unmotivated. Somehow I found the energy to get up off the couch around 11pm and I popped my Kenpo DVD. The beginning stretches were really hard for me but I managed. At first I thought it was going to be some corny Tai-bo type of exercises but it was actually alot more fun than I expected. After an hour of Kenpo I didn't have any energy to do the X Stretch. I think I am gonna skip it tomorrow and go straight to Chest & Back tomorrow. I will make it up by running 5 miles during my lunch hour...

Meal 1 - protein shake
Meal 2 - strawberries, pineapple
Meal 3 - salisbury steak, mushrooms, asparagus
Meal 4 - peanuts
Meal 5 - chicken quesadilla
Meal 6 - protein shake

Day 5 - P90X (Legs & Back , Ab Ripper X)

I didn't want to fall behind so I did this late in the evening. It was really cool because my wife joined in and worked out w/ me. We had to do mad lunges. The wall squats were the worst part of it. I struggled a little with the pull ups but I managed with a little help from my handy-dandy milk crate. By the end of the workout my shirt was soaking wet.

Meal 1 - huevos rancheros, turkey sausage,
potatoes O'Brien, coffee
Meal 2 - protein shake
Meal 3 - fish tacos
Meal 4 - string cheese
Meal 5 - chicken sandwich

P90X - Day 4 (Yoga X)

A dollar short and a day late... I didn't do Arms & Shoulders yesterday. I was way too busy. I ended up doing it today since I did not plan to do Yoga X (see below) because of my personal beliefs. I didn't have the proper weights so this was really hard for me.

Meal 1 - oatmeal, coffee
Meal 2 - breakfast burrito (3 eggs, turkey sausage, pepper jack cheese)
Meal 3 - protein shake w/ bananas and strawberries
Meal 4 - smoothie
Meal 5 - chicken fajitas, coffee
Meal 6 - protein shake

P90X - Day 3 (Arms & Shoulders, Ab Ripper X)

I went to bed early last night. I was really tired from my run and my first day of P90X. I wasn't able to start my Plyometrics last night so I woke up at 5am this morning and completed my Day 2 workout. As Tony Horton would say, "This is the mother of all workouts" I found myself out of breath within the first 5 minutes. This dvd is really demanding and requires alot of stamina. I was really proud to be able to complete the entire workout. My chest and back are still sore. I am not looking forward to tonight. I am sure I will not be able to get out of bed tomorrow morning...

Meal 1 - Protein shake
Meal 2 - Oatmeal, coffee
Meal 3 - Pollo empanizado, arroz con habichuelas, platanos fritos, malta (I think this counts for meal 3, 4, 5, and 6. Don't judge me!!!)
Meal 4 - Oatmeal
Meal 5 - Protein shake
Meal 6 - Chicken salad

Meal 1 - oatmeal, cup of water
Meal 2 - 3 eggs, turkey sausage, hashbrown, coffee
Meal 3 - protein shake
Meal 4 - string cheese

P90X - Day 1 (Chest & Back, Ab Ripper X)

I started p90x last night and I have to say it is truly amazing. I came across this video on youtube a while back. Some guy had video taped his before and after pix and the results were very impressive. A few days later I happened to see the infomercial on TV and I became a believer. I convinced the guys at work to start the program with me and it is really encouraging.

Day 1 consists of chest and back exercises and this dvd proved to me that I was out of shape. Tony Horton is a monster. The first dvd or the 12 disc set is a glimpse of what is yet to come. For an hour he has you doing push ups and pull ups in a number of ways. I found myself doing girl push ups half way through it. The Ab Ripper is no joke!! I was only able to do half of the dvd. It was too hard for me to complete. My wife was able to finish the Ab Ripper X with no problem.

Stay tuned for before and after pix from me...
