Pregnant Woman Gets Abortion Drug Instead of Antibiotic

Shepherd of the Hills Volunteer Arrested for Sex With Minor

PORTER RANCH (KTLA) -- A volunteer church counselor accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl may have more victims.

Marcelino Tinajero, 33, was arrested on Jan. 27 and booked on suspicion of unlawful sex with a minor, Los Angeles police Officer Gregory Baek said.

Tinajero had been working as a volunteer counselor at Shepherd of the Hills Church in Porter Ranch, where the teenage girl was a member.

Church officials say Tinajero had been volunteering August 2009, leading investigators to suspect he may have more victims.

Tinajero is a male Hispanic with black hair, brown eyes, 5 feet 7 inches tall, and weighs approximately 180 pounds.

He was booked into Men's Central Jail on January 27, 2011 and is facing multiple counts of sex crimes against a minor.

Chick-fil-A controversy shines light on restaurant's Christian DNA

The ongoing Chick-fil-A flap - which has gay rights groups blasting the restaurant chain for donating food to an anti-gay marriage group - may be a fleeting controversy for a privately held company that is more accustomed to fiercely loyal patrons and generally positive press coverage.

But Lake Lambert, author of the book Spirituality Inc., says the flap may be a sign of more turbulence ahead for Chick-fil-A as it attempts to hold onto its conservative Christian business culture while expanding its chain beyond the Bible Belt.

“If you have a faith-based corporate identity and you want to function in the national marketplace, you’re going to continue to encounter resistance to those values because not everybody is going to share them,” says Lambert. “The only other option is some sort of secular identity and that’s not where Chick-fil-A is going.”

LAUSD vs Jesus

All one Chatsworth fifth-grader wanted to do was bust a move to his favorite song at his school's annual talent show.

Unlike classmates who selected songs by Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, the young man wanted to perform an interpretive dance to "We Shine," a chart-topping Christian pop song. Click here to see a "We Shine" interpretive dance video.

But after officials at Superior Street Elementary told the youngster he'd have to "pick a song that does not say `Jesus' so many times," his parents decided to pursue legal action.

The National Alliance Defense Fund, a coalition of Christian attorneys who advocate for religious freedom, filed suit late last week against Los Angeles Unified on behalf of the unidentified boy.

Popular chicken chain under fire for anti-gay marriage donations

Fans of the addictive sandwiches of Chick-fil-A who also support gay marriage are facing a dilemma: Should one follow the dictates of the stomach or the conscience?
The privately owned chain, famous for closing on Sundays in deference to its founder's evangelical Christian values, donates to many Christian causes, scholarships, and organizations through its charitable arm.
But when a Pennsylvania restaurant donated sandwiches and brownies to a Harrisburg meeting of The Pennsylvania Family Group, a group that works to outlaw gay marriage, pro-gay marriage bloggers and gay rights organizations went on the offensive. The news quickly trickled into the mainstream. Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton wrote about it, and so did the food blog Grub Street, with the headline "Chick-fil-A is anti-gay."

Can UFC stand for Ultimate Fighting Christians?

And why not? Doesn't the Bible say in Matthew 11:12, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."

Well, if you have seen MMA in any form or promotion, you know this fits.

And if you don't believe me, then ask a guy named Vitor Belfort. Read an excellent article by Jennifer Riley in The Christian Post. Or better yet, watch Vitor's "I Am Second" video.

My Marathon

I want to share something with all of you that I went through this weekend. I (Brian) ran in the PF Chang's Rock-N-Roll marathon this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. I ran to represent xxxchurch.com as well as bringing awareness to the harmful effects that pornography has on one's life. But more than all that, it is symbolic to my own journey through sexual addiction. This was the first time I did a PF Chang's marathon, but personally my second marathon. From the very start there was a DJ, and music playing getting all the runners excited and feeling good about their run. I can tell you, I was pumped! But very nervous at the same time. There were bands and people lining the 13.1 mile course holding signs of encouragement. Total strangers yelling out to all the runners words of encouragement.

Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior

A lot of people wonder how Chinese parents raise such stereotypically successful kids. They wonder what these parents do to produce so many math whizzes and music prodigies, what it's like inside the family, and whether they could do it too. Well, I can tell them, because I've done it. Here are some things my daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do:

• attend a sleepover
• have a playdate
• be in a school play
• complain about not being in a school play
• watch TV or play computer games
• choose their own extracurricular activities
• get any grade less than an A
• not be the No. 1 student in every subject except gym and drama
• play any instrument other than the piano or violin
• not play the piano or violin.

Ala. Governor Apologizes For Remarks On Christians

Two days after being sworn in as Alabama governor, Robert Bentley apologized Wednesday for proclaiming to a Baptist church audience that only Christians were his brothers and sisters and vowed to work for people of all faiths and colors.
His comments Monday shocked and offended some believers of other faiths, but the backlash didn't seem to be a serious political wound for the retired dermatologist and Southern Baptist deacon.
In a conservative state with some of the highest levels of church attendance in the country, some Christian leaders defended the remarks and the Republican will likely get a fair chance to pursue his agenda in the coming legislative session.
"If anyone from other religions felt disenfranchised by the language, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry if I offended anyone in any way," he told reporters Wednesday after meeting with leaders of other faiths in his new office. Read the rest here

Dr Kermit Gosnell 'killed babies' at abortion clinic

A Philadelphia doctor performed thousands of illegal late-term abortions and murdered newborns after inducing labour, prosecutors have said.
Dr Kermit Gosnell, 69, was charged with murder and other offences in the deaths of a patient and viable babies born as late as the eighth month of pregnancy.
Prosecutors said he made millions of dollars treating and sometimes maiming mostly poor minority women.
Nine clinic workers are also charged with murder and other counts.
The defendants have not yet responded to the charges.
Lawyer William Brennan, who represented Dr Gosnell during the investigation, said: "Obviously, these allegations are very, very serious."

Here's The ONLY Good Thing About Steve Jobs' Leave Of Absence

We wish the speediest recovery to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who announced his second medical leave in 2 years on Monday. His absence is a big loss for Apple. But here's the only silver lining we can think of. By removing himself from the day-to-day grind at Apple, Steve can think bigger-picture and longer-term about gadgets, technology, and how humans will use them in the future. And maybe that will inspire him to come up with bigger and better ideas than if he were coming to the office every day.

Rehab: Overdose

Around every corner is the lure to consume. A desire to be satisfied. Unfortunately no human being has found anything under the sun that brings satisfaction. So we consume more, and more, and more.  Eventually, we overdose. However, there is hope--if Christianity is our Rehab. In Jesus, satisfaction can be found. Grace, love, peace and hope can be found...and there is always more. Consume more of Jesus. Overdose.

Google rewarms Android Market, still half baked next to iPhone App Store

Despite the delivery of a variety of new and improved smartphone models, the Android experience is still straggling behind Apple's iPhone, particularly in the area of its App Store.

To address the shortcomings of Android Market, Google has announced plans to roll out a new store client app for all smartphones running Android OS 1.6 or higher. The new version of the store plans to make it easier to discover software and facilitate sales.

The new store uses a Cover Flow-like browsable control for flipping through app icons (shown below), and plans to add new categories for popular types of content, including Live Wallpapers and Widgets, which make up a large portion of the Android app catalog.

The Supremacy of Jesus Christ

The holiness movements of today have none of the rugged reality of the New Testament about them. There is nothing about them that needs the death of Jesus Christ. All that is required is a pious atmosphere, prayer, and devotion. This type of experience is not supernatural nor miraculous. It did not cost the sufferings of God, nor is it stained with “the blood of the Lamb” (Revelation 12:11). It is not marked or sealed by the Holy Spirit as being genuine, and it has no visual sign that causes people to exclaim with awe and wonder, “That is the work of God Almighty!” Yet the New Testament is about the work of God and nothing else. The Consecration of Spiritual Power

We must never allow anything to interfere with the consecration of our spiritual power. Consecration (being dedicated to God’s service) is our part; sanctification (being set apart from sin and being made holy) is God’s part. We must make a deliberate determination to be interested only in what God is interested. The way to make that determination, when faced with a perplexing problem, is to ask yourself, “Is this the kind of thing in which Jesus Christ is interested, or is it something in which the spirit that is diametrically opposed to Jesus is interested?”

Identity - Lecrae f Da Truth, JR

[LeCrae]
Hair check, shoes check,
brand new fit looking cool check,
looking in mirror like "ooooh yes!"
cover for an insecure dude check,
She wont' feel me and they wont like me
if I ain't in them J's or them brand new Nikes,
but lets dig deeper inside my pysche
when it's all said and done even I don't like me
He live in the gym and his hair stay faded
late model car so they think he made it
but he's Christian he gave his life
but he still ain't satisfied in the savior Christ
still finds his identity in looks and cars
if he only knew that he ain't have to look so hard
If looked in God though it may seem odd
he be so satisfied he could leave it all.

[ Chorus ]
I'm not the shoes I wear, I'm not the clothes I buy
I'm am not the house I live in, I'm not the car I drive
I'm not the job I work, You can't define my worth
By nothing on God's green earth, my identity is found in Christ.

[ D.A. T.R.U.T.H. ]
How do I gauge success? Why do I say I'm blessed?
Huh, Is it the car that I drive or the place that I rest or the way that I dress,
now Is the cause of my pride,
the stage and the set or my face in the press,
now Cause the applause it dies
When the praise is less if my face is depressed,
then/ It's cause my value and worth is in the volume of the work I produce in the booth
It's a prize and a curse if defined by the perks when the truth is through
Man I'm goin' feel like I don't want to live no more, no more, no more
Cause they don't like me like they did in 04, 04, 04
So, I swallow my pride empowered by God,
I'm complete in Him
He's got peace God's priest I'm in In
His presence weak-His strength
Meet His kin We His brethren Read this list
Me forgiven
He's dismissed guilt and my sin and
I find my worth cause I'm Jesus' friend

[ Chorus ]
I'm not the shoes I wear, I'm not the clothes I buy
I'm am not the house I live in, I'm not the car I drive
I'm not the job I work, You can't define my worth
By nothing on God's green earth, my identity is found in Christ.

[ LeCrae ]
Got her hair done, toes and nails
is that Her? well it's hard to tell
cause she's caked up in so much make up
It's like she's tryna make up for what she ain't
but she's a saint but so confused
cause she's been rejected by all these dudes
that tell her on a scale of 10 she's a two
but that ain't true if she only knew
In Christ she is loved she secure and accepted
She'll never be rejected by God who's elected her
Her beauty is her Godliness
And she ain't gotta try to flaunt it cause it's obvious

[ Identity is found in the God we trust
Any other identity will self destruct.x2 ]

[ Chorus ]
I'm not the shoes I wear, I'm not the clothes I buy
I'm am not the house I live in, I'm not the car I drive
I'm not the job I work, You can't define my worth
By nothing on God's green earth, my identity is found in Christ.

You can't reach God with a high tower

My God is way bigger than Dwight Howard...

Dwight Howard is baptized Sunday in the Atlantic Ocean at Bethune Beach. He was one of a group of congregants from Orlando's Summit Church who took part in the ceremony. (MICHELLE HUGHES, SPECIAL TO THE ORLANDO SENTINEL / October 24, 2010)

Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard can bring an arena full of fans to their feet with one of his powerful dunks.

But on Sunday afternoon, a crowd cheered wildly as the big man got himself dunked — into the chilly ocean waters off Bethune Beach just south of New Smyrna Beach. Howard was baptized, along with dozens of others, as part of a beachside service held by Orlando's Summit Church.

With the sun fading about 5:45 p.m., Howard waded into the cold surf, the last person in a long line of folks to be baptized. He grimaced slightly and tensed up in reaction to the water as he walked toward the pastors. Howard, who is accustomed to double coverage, was flanked by two pastors — who had to back up with him into deeper water to accommodate his 6-11, 265-pound frame. After making a profession of faith in Jesus, Howard was dunked into the Atlantic Ocean. As he emerged from the water, about 500 onlookers on the beach cheered, clapped and snapped pictures with cell phones.

Howard returned to the small group of family and friends that had accompanied him and received congratulations from church members and well-wishers. Out of respect for the religious nature of the event, no one seemed to ask him for autographs or photos and generally respected his privacy.

As he walked from the beach to the parking lot, Howard greeted church members while he toweled himself dry.

"It feels great, man," he said.

Summit Church, which has three locations in Orlando, is an evangelical Christian congregation and has about 2,500 members, according to its website. The church practices full immersion as its rite of baptism, which according to its website, "is a crucial outward act of one's inward confession of faith and acceptance of Christ as savior … It is symbolic of Christ's death and resurrection, and also the washing away of our sins. Likewise, it is a sign to the community of the decision the believer has made."

Apple’s Anti-Sexting Software

Apple has been on the front lines of the porn wars for sometime with the iPhone leading the charge. Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO, said back in April, “we do believe we have a moral responsibility to keep porn off the iPhone.” With a recently approved patient it looks like Apple is poised to open up a new front in the battle to keep our kids safe. The patent is described as a “Text-based communication control for personal communication device.” The patent states that there is currently “no way to monitor and control text communications to make them user appropriate.”

So what does this all add up to?  Read the rest here

Debunking 10 Myths Against Christianity

Christianity has many times suffered in the hands of overtly bias anti-Christian, anti-God militants and propagandists. Also, these old canards have been theirs supposedly anti-Christian rebutal for justifying their anti-God polemics. But, I’m pretty sure that they are fully aware that these canards they still stubbornly holds has been refuted by fine and able scholars many times over. In addition, I’m also quite sure that these 10 myths are not the only myths that atheists has produced within their circle and many more worned-out myths will probably come in the near future. Let us take a look a little closer at these arguments and try to debunk them one by one as shown below:

1. Science Has Disproved God’s Existence
2. Only Ignorant and Stupid People Believe In a Being Such As God
3. Christianity Has Done Nothing Positive In the History of Civilization
4. Christianity Has Done More Harm Than Good
5. Hitler Was A Devout Christian
6. Jesus Really Never Existed
7. Jesus Is Nothing But A Copycat Savior
8. The Bible Was Written For Power and Oppress People
9. The Bible Is Nothing But A Fiction and Full of Fables

Lecrae on CNN

Lecrae Moore moved around a lot as a child. He was constantly the new kid in school. It’s often a struggle to fit in when you always have to make new friends but Lecrae had a gift. He could rap.

Street battles were no problem. Breaking into some freestyle for his classmates was a piece of cake. But walking a straight line was difficult.

Moore had a tough childhood. He grew up without a father. His male role models were rap artists like Tupac.

“My world view at that point in time was what I saw on television,” he said recently on a visit to CNN Center. “I just [rapped] about what I esteemed to be, what I wanted to be like. Most of that was gangsterism, false sense of masculinity, money, women.”

But Moore’s world view changed when he went to college at North Texas.  He met some Christians who helped pull the underlying faith out of him. It seemed to have always been there but he grew up straddling the line between God and the enemy, he said.
