Can UFC stand for Ultimate Fighting Christians?
And why not? Doesn't the Bible say in Matthew 11:12, "And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force."
Well, if you have seen MMA in any form or promotion, you know this fits.
And if you don't believe me, then ask a guy named Vitor Belfort. Read an excellent article by Jennifer Riley in The Christian Post. Or better yet, watch Vitor's "I Am Second" video.

My Marathon
I want to share something with all of you that I went through this weekend. I (Brian) ran in the PF Chang's Rock-N-Roll marathon this past weekend in Phoenix, Arizona. I ran to represent xxxchurch.com as well as bringing awareness to the harmful effects that pornography has on one's life. But more than all that, it is symbolic to my own journey through sexual addiction. This was the first time I did a PF Chang's marathon, but personally my second marathon. From the very start there was a DJ, and music playing getting all the runners excited and feeling good about their run. I can tell you, I was pumped! But very nervous at the same time. There were bands and people lining the 13.1 mile course holding signs of encouragement. Total strangers yelling out to all the runners words of encouragement.

Why Chinese Mothers Are Superior
A lot of people wonder how Chinese parents raise such stereotypically successful kids. They wonder what these parents do to produce so many math whizzes and music prodigies, what it's like inside the family, and whether they could do it too. Well, I can tell them, because I've done it. Here are some things my daughters, Sophia and Louisa, were never allowed to do:
• attend a sleepover
• have a playdate
• be in a school play
• complain about not being in a school play
• watch TV or play computer games
• choose their own extracurricular activities
• get any grade less than an A
• not be the No. 1 student in every subject except gym and drama
• play any instrument other than the piano or violin
• not play the piano or violin.

Ala. Governor Apologizes For Remarks On Christians
Two days after being sworn in as Alabama governor, Robert Bentley apologized Wednesday for proclaiming to a Baptist church audience that only Christians were his brothers and sisters and vowed to work for people of all faiths and colors.
His comments Monday shocked and offended some believers of other faiths, but the backlash didn't seem to be a serious political wound for the retired dermatologist and Southern Baptist deacon.
In a conservative state with some of the highest levels of church attendance in the country, some Christian leaders defended the remarks and the Republican will likely get a fair chance to pursue his agenda in the coming legislative session.
"If anyone from other religions felt disenfranchised by the language, I want to say I am sorry. I am sorry if I offended anyone in any way," he told reporters Wednesday after meeting with leaders of other faiths in his new office. Read the rest here

Dr Kermit Gosnell 'killed babies' at abortion clinic
A Philadelphia doctor performed thousands of illegal late-term abortions and murdered newborns after inducing labour, prosecutors have said.
Dr Kermit Gosnell, 69, was charged with murder and other offences in the deaths of a patient and viable babies born as late as the eighth month of pregnancy.Prosecutors said he made millions of dollars treating and sometimes maiming mostly poor minority women.
Nine clinic workers are also charged with murder and other counts.
The defendants have not yet responded to the charges.
Lawyer William Brennan, who represented Dr Gosnell during the investigation, said: "Obviously, these allegations are very, very serious."

Here's The ONLY Good Thing About Steve Jobs' Leave Of Absence
We wish the speediest recovery to Apple CEO Steve Jobs, who announced his second medical leave in 2 years on Monday. His absence is a big loss for Apple. But here's the only silver lining we can think of. By removing himself from the day-to-day grind at Apple, Steve can think bigger-picture and longer-term about gadgets, technology, and how humans will use them in the future. And maybe that will inspire him to come up with bigger and better ideas than if he were coming to the office every day.
